SETTING OBJECTIVES
Using data to highlight opportunities for strategic improvement, Alamance Achieves partners align their efforts to achieve four community-wide goals: kindergarten readiness, academic progress, high school graduation and career success.
FOUR KEY GOALS
Creating a reliable grid of resources or charging stations that can power the achievement of Alamance County’s children.
KINDERGARTEN
READINESS
Ensuring every child is well, healthy and ready to
take advantage of educational opportunities.
ACADEMIC
PROGRESS
Helping all children in Alamance County access
our community’s
grid of resources.
HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION
Energizing these charging
stations to make sure
all kids are ready for post-secondary learning.
CAREER
SUCCESS
Making sure all of Alamance County’s children have access to opportunities to achieve career goals.
GOAL 1: KINDERGARTEN READINESS
Ensuring every child is well, healthy and ready to take advantage of educational opportunities.
The community team formed around this goal works to ensure children are ready to enter kindergarten. Children that enter school ready to learn are more likely to thrive throughout all future grade levels.
A Core Indicator for this goal will be the new Kindergarten Screener, a collaboration with the Alamance-Burlington School System. This screener helps determine if children have developed the social, emotional, academic and motor skills to engage in school-based learning experiences.
GOAL 2: ACADEMIC PROGRESS
Helping all children access our community’s grid of resources.
These networks will aim to ensure every child thrives in elementary and middle school – in order to later succeed in high school.
The Core Indicators are End-of-Grade (EOG) test scores for third and eighth graders. Not meeting the standards on these tests indicates that a student will likely need additional help in the next school year and risks falling behind.
GOAL 3: High school graduation
Energizing these charging stations to make sure all kids are ready for post-secondary learning.
These networks work to ensure every student graduates from high school and is prepared for post-secondary education. Graduating from high school positions students to find higher paying jobs and have opportunities for career growth.
The Core Indicators are high school graduation rates and college enrollment rates.
GOAL 4: Career success
Making sure all of Alamance County’s children have access to opportunities to achieve career goals.
Additional networks aim to ensure every student is on track toward their career goals.
The Core Indicators are post-secondary completion and unemployment rates for young adults. Our goal is not only that students graduate, but also that businesses in our local economy are able to employ them.
